MOUNT VERNON MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Who is eligible: High school senior from East Texas planning to major in music
Amount: $1,000
Application Deadline: April 1, 2012. Send all materials to: Mount Vernon Music Scholarship Committee, Box 719, Mount Vernon, TX 75457.
Mount Vernon Music Association is pleased to offer a competitive scholarship award to an East Texas graduating senior who is going on to study music at the college level. The intent of the award is to encourage and acknowledge excellence in music performance and academics. The award will be presented at our annual Young Artists Showcase on May 20, 2012.
Applicants should submit by April 1st:
(1) A completed application form, plus application fee ($10 check made payable to Mount Vernon Music)
(2) Three copies of a 10-minute audition recording (CD or DVD) of a recent performance
(3) Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher at student’s high school, a second from an individual from the community, not related to student.
(4) A short bio for the program at the Young Artists Showcase
Applicants must have at least a B average and an acceptance letter from a college or university. The cash award will be disbursed upon proof of college enrollment.

YOUNG ARTISTS SHOWCASE and PERFORMANCE AWARDS
We are once again preparing for the annual Young Artists Showcase concert, this year to be held in Mount Vernon Music Hall at 3:00 p.m., May 20, 2012.
Who is eligible: Students must be from East Texas, can be all ages up to and including high school seniors, and may be vocal or instrumental, soloists or ensembles.
Application deadline: April 1, 2012. Send all materials to: Mount Vernon Music Scholarship Committee, Box 719, Mount Vernon, TX 75457.
Applicants should submit by April 1st:
(1) Application fee ($10 for soloist and accompanist; or $15 for ensemble. Check made payable to Mount Vernon Music)
(2) Three copies of an audition recording (CD or DVD) of piece to be performed at Young Artists Showcase
Mount Vernon Music Association is pleased to offer Performance Awards to an East Texas music student or group of students. The intent of these awards is to encourage and acknowledge excellence in music performance. The three recipients will be chosen from the performers at the Young Artists Showcase on May 20th, and will be recognized during that program.
Who is eligible: All music students who are selected to perform on the Young Artists Showcase concert on May 20 are eligible. Students must be from East Texas, can be all ages up to and including high school seniors, and may be vocal or instrumental, soloists or ensembles.
Amount: First Prize-$150, Second Prize-$125, Third Prize-$100
